Abstract
I forbindelse med planlagte innvendige malearbeider i tidligere Nordstrand videregående skole i Oslo, undersøkte NIKU på oppdrag av Undervisningsbygg de verneverdige interiørene for opprinnelig farge‐ og materialbruk. Skolebygget er oppført i 1925, og deler av interiøret er vernet. Prosjektet omfattet fargeundersøkelse av interiørene i de tre vestibylene i hovedbygningen, trappeoppgang og inngangsparti. I tillegg ble inngangsdørens utside mot skolegården undersøkt. Målet med fargeundersøkelsen var å skaffe grunnlag for valg av farger og materialer som tilsvarer interiørets opprinnelig fargesetting til bruk ved de planlagte malearbeidene. NIKU undersøkte alle originale bygningselementer ved avdekkinger ned til originale overflater og registering av farger med NCS‐koder. I tillegg ble materialprøver tatt ut og undersøkt i mikroskop. Enkelte malinger ble undersøkt for opprinnelig pigmentbruk og blyinnhold med håndholdt XRF, som er en grunnstoffanalysemetode som kan utføres på stedet. Undersøkelsen ble supplert med arkivstudier. Resultatet fra undersøkelsen viste at vestibylene samt trapperom og inngangsparti i de første to periodene var malt i lysegult på pussete flater og mørkeblå og blågrå på bygningsdeler i tre. Den opprinnelige fargesettingen kunne dokumenteres i alle detaljer, og NIKU anbefaler å tilbakeføre til opprinnelige fargesetting (periode I) til tross for senere endringer i plan 3. Det anbefales å bruke forsterket limfarge på pussete vegger, og linoljemaling på treverk. Veggene i trappeoppgang kan vurderes å males i oljemaling, da limfarge ikke er slitesterkt, og kan være uegnet for bruk i utsatte områder. Det er ikke funnet nevneverdig mengder bly i malingen.
