Installasjon- og bevaringsrapport: Kjøpmannsgata 16 (TA 2023/12). 1-årig miljøovervåkingsprogram, Trondheim.

Abstract

Bakgrunnen for den arkeologiske undersøkelsen og etableringen av et miljøovervåkingsprogram var rettevedtak etter ulovlig graving ved byggearbeid på eiendommen Kjøpmannsgata 16 i Trondheim. Riksantikvaren ønsket at kulturlagenes bevaringstilstand og miljøforhold skulle analyseres gjennom en arkeologisk/geokjemisk undersøkelse. Utstyr for overvåking skulle installeres i tillegg. Installering av utstyr og tilstandsvurdering av kulturlag i felt fant sted i juni 2023. Det ble renset frem en eksisterende kulturlagsprofil på tiltaksområdet. Profilet - miljøprofil 1 - ble dokumentert arkeologisk og kulturlagene ble tilstandsvurdert. Jordprøver til jordkjemisk og jordfysisk analyse og radiologisk datering ble tatt fra utvalgte kulturlag. Deretter ble måleutstyr installert. Rapporten redegjør for dette arbeidet samt resultater av analyser av jordkjemiske prøver tatt fra utvalgte kulturlag i miljøprofilet. Det ble i tillegg gjennomført en bevaringsanalyse. Rapporten avsluttes med NIKUs vurderinger av kulturlagenes tilstand og forhold for bevaring med grunnlag i tilstands- og bevaringsanalysene. Vurderingen er at bevaringstilstand er dårlig til svært dårlig, mens miljøforholdene er bedre. Mye av nedbrytningen har skjedd etter at profilet først ble eksponert i 2005.

This report details the results from the archaeological investigation at Kjøpmannsgata 16 in Trondheim, Norway, after unauthorized construction work at the site. Consequently, the Directorate wanted the site state of preservation and preservation conditions of the archaeological deposits to be analyzed through a clarifying archaeological/geochemical examination. Equipment for monitoring should be installed as well. Installation of equipment and assessment of archaeological deposits on the site took place in June 2023. An already existing vertical section through stratified archaeological deposits - “miljøprofil 1”- was documented archaeologically and the condition of the archaeological deposits assessed. Soil samples for geochemical and geophysical analyses and radiocarbon datings were taken from selected deposits. Monitoring equipment was then installed in conjunction with the section. The report provides an account of this work as well as results of the analyses of geochemical samples taken from selected archaeological deposits in the standing section. An analysis of site state of preservation conditions was also conducted, and the report concludes with NIKUs assessment of the state of preservation of the archaeological deposits and the conditions for future preservation on the basis of the analyses. The assessment is that the state of preservation is poor to very poor, while the environmental conditions are better. Much of the degradation has happened since the section was first exposed in 2005.
