Brannvakten i Kirkeristen, Karl Johans gate 11, Oslo. Fargeundersøkelse av vinduer

Abstract

Norsk institutt for kulturminneforskning (NIKU) har gjennomført en fargeundersøkelse av vinduer i Brannvakten i Kirkeristen, Karl Johans gate 11, Oslo. Formålet med undersøkelsen var å kartlegge og dokumentere spor etter tidligere farger og materialer på vinduene. Vinduene VB11, VB23 og VB26 hadde opprinnelig samme farge, gulbrun. Samme farge er funnet på karm eksteriør på VB23 og VB26. VB08 var opprinnelig mørk brunt på innsiden. Fordi interiøret er fredet/vernet anbefaler NIKU at man enten viderefører dagens fargesetting eller at man basert på undersøkelsen og i samråd med Byantikvaren velger tilbakeføring til en av de første oppmalingene.

The Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU) has carried out architectural paint research of windows in the old fire station (Brannvakten) in Kirkeristen, Karl Johans gate 11, Oslo. The purpose of the survey was to map and document traces of previous colors and materials on the windows. The windows VB11, VB23 and VB26 originally had the same colour, yellow brown. The same color is found on the exterior frame of VB23 and VB26.VB08 was originally dark brown on the inside. Because the interior is listed/protected, NIKU recommends either to continue the current color scheme or, based on the survey and in consultation with Byantikvaren, to reconstruct first or second paint scheme.
